Monsignor Álvarez: “Advance Nicaragua with the passion of your exiled, imprisoned, poor children”

In his Palm Sunday homily, the bishop of the Diocese of Matagalpa and apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Estelí, Monsignor Rolando Alvarez Lagospointed out that Nicaragua lives the “cruel passion” to which its “migrant children are subjected in those caravans through the desert, in those caravans of death, extortion, outrage, kidnapping, blackmail, rape.”

Since 2018, the country has experienced a massive migration of Nicaraguans fleeing the repression of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo and move to countries like Costa RicaPanama, United States and Spain.

«Children in the arms of their mothers, children in the womb of their mothers, entire families, young people, thousands of peasants who farmed the land. Nicaragua advances with the cross on the back of the pain of the bloody family disintegration, it hurts, it hurts in the Nicaraguan soul. Practically entire rural communities have been left empty, towns that were happy now desolate,” Álvarez lamented.

Nicaragua advances in its hope of building a new society where forgiveness, fraternity, reconciliation, peace, justice, freedom reign. Nicaragua advances on the path of hope of not giving up on your dreams of working together tirelessly for justice and fraternity.
