President Claudia Sheinbaum affirmed this Monday that there is no message in placing Morena politicians in the second row and behind fences who turned their backs on her during the assembly which the president called in the capital’s Zócalo on March 9.
“Gossip… there is nothing wrong with how people accommodate themselves, there is no message, there is nothing,” said the president when questioned during her morning conference at the National Palace.
The politicians who were sent to the second row are Adán Augusto López, leader of Morena in the Senate questioned for alleged links with the criminal group La Barredora; Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, organizational secretary of Morena and criticized for taking a trip to Japan where he was caught leaving a luxury Prada store; Ricardo Monreal, deputy for Morena; Luisa María Alcalde, national president of Morena, and Manuel Velasco, senator for the PVEM.
Its placement in the president’s first Government Report drew attention due to the incident in the assembly headed by Sheinbaum seven months ago, because when the president went to greet her guests who were then in the front row, they turned their backs on her for taking a photo.
Sheinbaum also explained the absence of Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, one of his closest collaborators with whom he worked since his time as head of Government of Mexico City.
“Sometimes he comes, sometimes he has a lot of work; he has a lot of work and sometimes he decides not to attend, so it depends on the day and the tasks and activities he has at that time,” said the president.
