In a message posted on social media, he commented that of the 20 initiatives that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented to the Chamber of Deputies on February 5, the Constitutional Affairs Committee had already approved 14, leaving only six of them, that of the Judiciary, missing.
“Several weeks have passed since the commission issued its opinions and it has given its opinions on 14 of the 20 initiatives. There are 6 left: 4 of the utmost importance, which are the National Guard, autonomous bodies, electoral reform and of course the reform of the Judicial Branch. These four opinions will be completed before the end of August,” he said.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of Morena in San Lázaro, Ignacio Mier, explained that this parliamentary group will propose modifications to more than 60 paragraphs of what was proposed by President López Obrador.
These announcements were made hours after President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum stated – after receiving her certificate of majority – that the election of ministers by direct vote is a “popular mandate.”
He also took the opportunity to tell the workers of the judiciary that their rights will be respected with the reform and asked employers not to worry about this change.
“To national and foreign businessmen, we are strengthening the rule of law to eradicate corruption, nepotism and the privilege of a few. You do not have to worry, on the contrary, you will now have the guarantee of true independence and autonomy of the Judiciary and the rule of law,” he said.
