Monkeypox vaccine will be adapted to the realities of the country

The Brazilian researchers will work on the development of a vaccine against monkeypox adapted to the reality of our country. The statement was made by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Paulo Alvim, who gave an interview to the program The Voice of Brazil this Wednesday (14th). “There is a national competence in place, a group of researchers that are being called upon to do so,” she said.

In the conversation, Alvim also spoke about the federal government’s support for startups. According to him, an effort was made so that the 13 federal agencies that worked with the theme started to act in a complementary and non-competitive way. The minister also cited the creation of a legal framework for the sector as an important advance: “With this, we create legal certainty and a favorable regulatory environment for these startups undertake.”

According to him today the government supports the startups in the processes of ideation, development, qualification of human resources and even internationalization, leading to some initiatives to participate in international awards.

The minister also cited support for sustainable and inclusive development strategies in the Amazon biome. According to Alvim, the objective is to value traditional knowledge that, together with science, can generate income with added value without compromising the biome. “The standing forest is worth a lot,” he pointed out.
