This Thursday, the Ministry of Health issued a press release announcing that the sixth case of monkey pox in the country, which becomes the second positive diagnosis in less than 24 hours.
This given that, this Wednesday, the portfolio had confirmed the fifth case in the country. About the sixth patient with monkey pox it was learned that he is a 25-year-old man who lives in Córdoba and who recently arrived from Mexico, where he also circulates the illness.
The ministry explained that the case of monkey pox could be confirmed after performing a PCR test on the patient, who during your stay in Mexico you were in contact with a person who also had the virus.
The citizen also presented symptoms such as fever, severe headache and general malaise, even before his arrival in the country (June 20). Subsequently, the man made a medical consultation, and the specialists decided to perform the PCR test on him.
From the moment his case was known, the patient remains isolated to avoid new infections; It was also known that despite the symptoms, he remains in good health.
Meanwhile, the ministry will continue with the epidemiological control of this and the other cases detected in the country. The first case was confirmed at the end of May and occurred in a citizen who arrived in the national territory from Spain.
The same happened with the fifth citizen who tested positive for the virus, who recently returned from Europe to the country, an area where the disease has gained strength thanks to its spread.
What recommendations should be taken
From the ministry they delivered a series of recommendations to avoid more cases of the illness; between them, avoid close contact with confirmed cases and people with compatible symptoms.
It is also recommended that those who present symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle or back pain, swollen glands, tiredness or skin rashes, see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis.
