Parties with sexual encounters have been identified as the most common settings for monkeypox transmission.
Monkeypox is a disease spread by close contact with infected people.
Although physical contact is the main factor of spread, for the transmission of the disease to occur, this contact must be direct, intense and prolonged.
The sexual contact is the highest risk route of transmission and which is currently registering the highest proportion of people infected with monkeypox globally.
In our country, and just as it has been happening in the Region of the Americas, it has been identified that the most common places where monkeypox is transmitted are parties with sexual encounters.
This phenomenon has been observed specifically among the latest cases diagnosed in Paraguay.
For the purposes of reduce the chances of contagion of monkeypoxthe population is urged to adopt care measures, in order to protect themselves and others.

To reduce the risk of getting monkeypox:
* Pay attention to any injury or rash that may appear in the body without apparent cause, do not minimize it, better go to the doctor, especially if they appear in the mouth, genital area and anus.
* Yes you or your partner have or recently had symptoms of monkeypox or any new rash, avoid having sex of any kind (oral, anal, vaginal) or any close contact: kissing or touching the body while sick. Also do not share towels or objects.
* Limit the number of sexual partnersthis will also reduce the exposure to the disease and the rate of spread of this epidemic.
* Talk to your partner about these issues.
A) In spaces such as dark rooms, saunas, sex clubs or private and public sex partiesWhere intimate, and often anonymous, sexual contact with multiple partners occurs, monkeypox is more likely to spread.

Keep in mind:
• The use of condoms in each sexual intercourse could decrease the possibility of exposure, as well as gloves (latex, polyurethane or nitrile) with intimate contact.
• Avoid kiss or exchange saliva since monkeypox can be spread this way.

• Be careful with close contact, monkeypox can also be spread through respiratory secretions with close face-to-face contact.

B) In places like raves, parties, clubs and festivals
The festivals, events and concerts where attendees are fully clothed and there is little chance of skin-to-skin contact are safer.

• Consider minimizing skin-to-skin contact, avoid touching any rashes you see on others.
• Avoid activities such as kissing, they can spread monkeypox.
• If you feel sick or have a rash, do not attend any meeting. Seek medical attention.
If you have skin rashes or other symptoms associated with monkeypox
• Avoid sexual intercourseclose contact and kissing.
• Go to the medical consultationwith a mask and clothing that covers skin lesions.
• Save home rest and follow the doctor’s instructions.
