The patient infected with monkeypox in the city of Rio de Janeiro remains isolated at home, with mild symptoms, according to information from the Municipal Health Department. So far, this is the only confirmed case in the state.
According to the Health Department, the patient is a 38-year-old Brazilian who lives in London, England. He arrived in Brazil on the 11th and sought medical attention the next day. Confirmation of the disease occurred on the 15th.
According to the State Health Department, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) carried out a survey of passengers who were on the same flight as him.
So far, across the country, six cases of the disease have been confirmed, four in São Paulo, one in Rio de Janeiro and another in Rio Grande do Sul.
