The completion of some infrastructure projects and progress in others, was the topic this week in the Execution and Commitments Monitoring Cabinet, headed by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.
The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, stressed that the Kuna Nega Health Center Project is about to complete the hiring of medical personnel and would be ready for its inauguration. Regarding the Construction of the Maternal and Child Center of El Copé, it is waiting for a connection to the electricity supply. Minister Sucre reported that the Calovébora Health post is ready and work is being done on equipment and could also be inaugurated soon.
The Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge, advanced the progress in the paperwork of projects such as the Chumico-Alto Tólica-Guayabito highway, in the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca; as well as the Caribbean Corridor, which is awaiting partial approval of the Environmental Impact Study.
Government Minister Roger Tejada pointed out that in August construction work will begin on the Pacora Women’s Center and work on the Las Garzas center is advancing.
Additionally, Minister Tejada reported on the extension of the loan with the World Bank, which will allow bidding for infrastructure works in indigenous territories.
For his part, the Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Rogelio Paredes, in his speech commented that they continue with some projects such as Recuperando Mi Barrio.
While the director of Pandeportes, Luis Denis Arce, announced progress in different stadiums and gyms nationwide, such as the Roberto Mariano Bula Stadium in Colón, where work continues. In the Gato Brujo Salinas stadium, the installation of grass was completed. Finishing work continues at Toco Castillo in Veraguas. At the Juan Demóstenes Arosemena Stadium, this week should begin with the laying of grass, and the VIP chairs are about to arrive.
Juan Ducruet, director of the Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), noted progress in some projects of the entity in order to improve the supply of drinking water. He also referred to the environmental situation facing the country with the El Niño phenomenon.
The weekly meeting of the Execution and Commitment Monitoring Cabinet seeks to speed up works that are a priority for the benefit of the community.
