Amid the controversy over the decision of the National Electoral Institute (INE) that endorsed the qualified majority for Morena and its allies in the Chamber of Deputies with 364 seats, the presiding magistrate of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF), Mónica Soto Fregoso, received executives from different business and financial circles in the country in her offices. According to reports, the meeting was to exchange impressions on the final stage of the 2023-2024 federal electoral process, but according to sources from the court, the central issue was the qualified majority in San Lázaro.
This highest electoral authority must approve next Wednesday the more than 1,700 appeals it received between Friday and Sunday, in addition to listening to voices from different groups in the country. Representatives of civil society organizations also attended the meeting, which took place at the Electoral Court facilities, to deliver an appeal. amicus curiae in order to prevent the judiciary from voting for overrepresentation.
