The money from Brazilians abroad totaled US $ 654.5 billion in 2024, according to information from Brazilian capital abroad (CBE)released this Friday (25) by the Central Bank (BC), in Brasilia.
The annual declaration is mandatory for individuals and legal entities residing in Brazil, with values, assets, rights and assets of any nature abroad in a value of US $ 1 million.
In total, 29,068 Brazilians stated that they have these assets, on the base date of December 31, 2024. Of these, 25,208 are individuals who have US $ 245.4 million abroad and 3,860 are companies with US $ 409.1 million in assets outside Brazil.
Direct investments in the productive sector add up to most assets – US $ 503.9 billion – followed by other investments, such as commercial credits, loans and coins (US $ 86.5 billion) and portfolio investments such as fixed income stocks and securities (US $ 62.8 billion).

Where is the money
In the distribution of direct investments by countries, when considering the share capital of companies, US $ 95 billion are in the Netherlands, followed by British virgin islands (US $ 83.3 billion), Cayman Islands (US $ 73.2 billion), Bahamas ($ 58.1 billion), Luxembourg ($ 35.1 billion) and the United States (US $ 20.9 billion).
Looking at the productive sector division, US $ 313.6 billion were applied to service companies, mostly financial services and holdings; Already US $ 86.9 billion in agriculture, livestock and mineral extractivism, especially oil and natural gas extraction. In the industry, US $ 42 billion were invested by Brazilians abroad in 2024.
