This Friday, February 10, at night, a forest fire broke out on land adjacent to the company Gases Maturín CA (Gasmaca), located on Avenida Alirio Ugarte Pelayo in Maturín, which was intervened by officials from the Monagas Fire Department. This was reported by the first commander of the aforementioned institution in the entity, Colonel (B) Jonathan Morales.
32 aviation officials, firefighters and PC participated in the fire
Colonel (B) Jonathan Morales said that the work began with the participation of 32 fire officials from the central command and aeronautics with the support of Civil Protection.
“Following the guidelines of Governor Ernesto Luna and the Secretary of Prevention and Citizen Security, Colonel (FANB) Eduardo Alberto Almérida Padrón, firefighters and civil protection attended the fire.”
He explained that the fatal fire lasted approximately five hours and developed in four hectares of tall brush, where there was no structural damage or injuries.
He stressed that it was suffocated at 2 in the morning this Saturday, with the use of more than 25,000 liters of water from a suppression unit, racks and sprinklers.
Neighbors thank the authorities for the prompt response
Ms. Manuela Pérez, a flower merchant on Alirio Ugarte Pelayo avenue, thanked the authorities for the quick response by the entity’s firefighters.
“I have a flower shop 2 meters from where the fire was, thank God I wasn’t there at that time, I thank God and you.”
Likewise, Mr. Benicio Díaz, guard of the new cemetery of Maturín, also thanked the Luna government for the prompt response.
“My partner and I found out that the hectares were on fire when the firefighters arrived on the site.”
