The President of the Council of Power of attorney, Luis Henry Molinastated this Friday that each judge He has to answer for his actions before society.
When asked about the criminal and disciplinary investigation that was opened against Judge Juan Francisco Rodríguez Consoró, Molina said that all members of the Judiciary are exposed to scrutiny of their functions.
Although he specified that he cannot give details of the process, because it is ongoing and as president of the Council of the Judiciary at some point he will have to make a decision on this case.
He added that everything that entails a criminal offense corresponds to the Public Ministry, so it cannot be referred to.
«This is a process that is ongoing, it is a process on which I cannot issue any type of opinion because I am going to have to make some type of decision in the process that is being carried out. When a judge is hearing a case, he cannot refer to it,” she said when answering questions from the press during an activity for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
He explained that the Judiciary has strengthened its integrity system, which has a code of ethical behavior and a disciplinary regime that has a system of consequences.
When asked if he has any observations for the judges based on the investigation by magistrate Rodríguez Consoró, Molina said that it is not his duty to tell each judge how to act.
«All Dominican judges are honest, responsible and hardworking and it is up to them to carry out their work and function. It is not me who should tell each judge how to act. Each judge has been trained in his independence and integrity from him. And each of us has to answer for his actions before society, “he said.
Molina said that the Judiciary is strong enough to have credibility.
Regarding the investigation of Rodríguez Consoró, the head of the Special Prosecutor for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camachoinformed that until now the investigation against the judge showed that “there are indications that it is a structure”, where there could be other people involved.
He explained that the file was sent from the Inspectorate of the Judiciary, which first opened a disciplinary investigation.
In this regard, Rodríguez Consoró assured that the investigation against him is an “overwhelming persecution”, which is based on “innumerable insults and slander”.
And that the investigation is due to the fact that it did not rule in favor of Pepca when it issued an order dismissing the accused of the irregular sale of the Los Tres Brazos sector, thus freeing them from going to trial.
