The ambassadors of Mexico to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma, and of the United States to Mexico, Ken Salazar, met yesterday in San Antonio, Texas, where they participated in a forum on border infrastructure and sustainability, among other activities.
At the 26th Environmental Border Forum of the North American Development Bank, Moctezuma noted that both nations are working on the implementation of 20 key infrastructure projects on the border.
“One of our flagship binational plans is ‘Otay Mesa East-Mesa de Otay II,’ by 2024. It will become the most modern and innovative border crossing. Their goal is to reduce the time from two hours to just 20 minutes,” he explained, according to information from the Mexican embassy.
Regarding the recently approved Inflation Reduction Law in the United States, which contemplates tax credits for electric vehicles manufactured in North America, he said that it is a huge step in the creation of a strong, competitive and humane region
and highlighted Mexico’s commitment to reach the goal of producing 50 percent zero-emission vehicles by 2030.
Salazar also met in San Antonio with the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García. We talked about the impact of the drought and options for water infrastructure projects for the region. We also reaffirm the solid commitment between Nuevo León and the United States for security and prosperity.
