The Brazilian Dani Alves made his debut last night with Pumas de México giving an assist for goal in the agonizing draw that the UNAM team drew at home against Mazatlán 1-1 on the fifth day of the Apertura tournament of Mexican soccer.
Alves assured on Saturday, in his presentation as a Pumas player, that his goal is to leave a legacy in the youth of the National Autonomous University of Mexico club.
“We couldn’t get the victory, but to begin with it’s not bad, I barely got there and I had to play the 90 minutes to feel the championship. There are many things to do, the team has personality, it is very eager and with that desire we will surely climb positions”, said Alves.
In the game that was played at the Olympic University Stadium in Mexico City, Mazatlan took the lead in the 74th minute with a header from Venezuelan Eduard Bello after a center sent by Roberto Meráz from the right sector.
When it seemed that Pumas would suffer a defeat at home, Alves sent a corner kick from the left sector that Argentine Nicolás Freire finished off with a header in the 90th minute.
In addition to the assist for the equalizer, the 39-year-old was very involved and made three shots on goal that were deflected by the Uruguayan goalkeeper Nicolás Vikonis.
“It is a privilege to have Dani Alves, everything is learning, I think he did remarkably well. There will be several adaptation matches, but he has a privileged physique and I don’t think it will cost him much, ”said the Pumas technical director, the Argentine Andrés Lillini.
