The Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MIVIOT), Daniela Martínez, explained on Radio Panama the help they are providing to the community of Wala, Comarca Wargandí, where last Friday a fire destroyed dozens of houses and the national government sent a inter-institutional team to help the victims.
“Starting on Saturday we went to the place carrying bags of food, clothing, water, cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, where together with the Sahila and the community we coordinated the actions to be followed by the government team,” said Martínez.
The vice minister explained that a census was carried out to find out the damage suffered by this fire “There was talk of 200 houses affected but the technical team of the Ministry of Housing together with the Sahila verified and we reached the figure of 73 houses affected and we can say that they are approximately 100 families, because two to three families live per lot or per area»
This week more materials are expected to arrive so that the reconstruction of these houses affected by the fire can begin.
