MIVHED seeks ISO 9001, 37301 and 37001 certifications to strengthen management

MIVHED seeks ISO 9001, 37301 and 37001 certifications to strengthen management

The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) announced the formal start of its preparation process to obtain international certifications in quality management, regulatory compliance and anti-bribery systems, as part of the #ISOHábitat institutional program with the motto “standards that transform, processes that work.”

The announcement was made by Minister Ito Bisonó during an internal meeting with technicians and strategic teams of the institution, in which this new stage was launched aimed at strengthening processes, raising management standards and consolidating an institutional culture based on quality, compliance and integrity.

The #ISOHabitat program contemplates the progressive implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 standards on quality management system, ISO 37301 on compliance system and ISO 37001 on anti-bribery management system, with the aim of structuring clear, traceable and measurable processes that allow more agile, efficient and reliable management. As part of this process, standardized policies, procedures and processes will be designed and formalized that contribute to making institutional operations more efficient, reducing response times and strengthening management control.

During his speech, Minister Bisonó highlighted that this decision responds to a strategic vision of continuous improvement and institutional excellence. “Quality is a way of working. We are committed to processes that work, clear rules and management that generates trust. This is a firm step towards a more solid institution, with international standards that support how we do things,” he expressed.

The program is presented after carrying out an institutional diagnosis that made it possible to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, a process that already has first actions implemented. This initiative is part of the commitments of Minister Bisonó’s new management, aimed at strengthening the internal structure of the Ministry as a basis for offering better service to the construction sector and citizens.

The scope of these certifications will cover strategic areas of the Ministry, with special emphasis on processes linked to permitting, one of the key components to guarantee greater regulatory certainty, traceability and efficiency in the construction sector.

Within the framework of the meeting, a first awareness-raising day on public procurement, regulatory compliance and anti-bribery management in the construction sector was held, led by consultants Tania de León and Babaji Cruz, specialists in management systems. During the session, fundamental principles of internal control, risk prevention and institutional strengthening were addressed.

This initial stage marks the beginning of a technical process that will include gap surveys, process documentation, definition of indicators, risk management and strengthening of internal controls, with a view to achieving certifications during the next year.

With this initiative, the MIVHED seeks to consolidate itself as an institution that leads with clear standards, strengthening the confidence of the construction sector, control organizations and citizens. The program’s approach is aimed at promoting public management that is more predictable, measurable and aligned with good international practices.

The Ministry thus reaffirms its commitment to building a stronger and more efficient institutional framework, focused on providing better services and responding with greater quality to the country’s demands.
