MIVED aprobó 1,581 licencias para la construcción de viviendas en el 2022

The goal for this year is to approve 1,700 housing construction licenses, informed the Minister of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), Carlos Bonilla

He Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED) approved 1,581 housing construction licenses to the private sector during the year 2022, which involve an investment of close to one billion pesos.

The goal for this year is to approve 1,700 licenses and it will increase each year, while MIVED encourages builders to do more projects.

This was reported by the MIVED minister, carlos bonillawhen participating in the Economic Meeting today, who specified that the licenses approved last year are equivalent to 10.9 million square meters of construction.

The official was accompanied by Evelio Paredes, director of the cabinet, and the director of Communications of MOVED, Patricia Florentino.

MIVED has managed to reduce the backlog of applications for construction permits, which encourages private investment throughout the country. To achieve this achievement, MIVED implemented a new plan processing software, which allows a more fluid relationship between the institution and users.

He explained that the software allows that if MIVED reviews the structural plans and there is a note to fix any aspect, this goes directly to the builder by email, who enters the program and corrects the error.

“Users are now happier with the treatment they are given, because we have changed the culture of that vice-ministry,” he said.

He highlighted that there has been a decrease in the average time of days for the issuance of construction licenses, going from 113 days in 2019 to 86 days in 2022, for a reduction of 24%, which has a positive impact for the private sector.

He pointed out that, likewise, there has been an increase in the monthly issuance of construction licenses, going from 121 licenses in 2019 to 128 licenses in 2022, for an increase of 6%.

He recalled that last year the Single Construction Window service began. MIVED is responsible for approving construction permits for private sector housing projects and these functions previously corresponded to the Ministry of Public Works.
