At 6:15 p.m., the caravan of 10 police patrols arrived at the Chonchocoro prisonThey quickly entered the prison registration center where the internment process began for Misael Nallar, who will be one of the almost 500 inmates who are being held. The entry procedures will conclude tomorrow according to the data of the director of the Penitentiary Regime, Juan Carlos Limpias.
“What corresponds is to make the filiation, take all the general data of the prisoner, the photograph, the fingerprint, after this he has a physical examination by the medical area and will also go through the multidisciplinary team. Today I don’t think everything will be done, surely tomorrow it will end up in the area of psychology, social work, the entire area of health and the legal area as well”, detailed the director of Bolivian prisons.
Nallar was referred to the Chonchocoro prison early this Saturday by decision of Judge Rodrigo Vedia Espinoza, of the Public, Mixed, Civil, Commercial, Family and Criminal Institution Court of La Guardia, after finding sufficient evidence of guilt of being the main author of the death of two policemen and a volunteer civilian of the Gacip.
Cleans recalled that when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the prison authorities arranged a specific isolation area for all those deprived of liberty who arrive at the prisons, Chonchocoro was no exception, and the prison has its own isolation room where they all remain for a period of 14 days.
“According to protocols that are still in force due to the Covid-19 issue in those 14 days, what is expected is to carry out an analysis of the multidisciplinary security team, to see where it will be transferred, to which sector of Chonchocoro it will be transferred. , the The team carries out an analysis, above all of security, to protect, preserve the physical integrity of the deprived of liberty”, explained the director.
He then said that given Nallar’s status as a pre-trial detainee, the prison authorities must be attentive to legal requirements, because it is the stage of more hearings of this type of inmates. The Penitentiary Regime will have to guarantee the physical presence of the accused or the virtual presence in a room designed for these cases.
Later, he said that as a prison system they did not know of any pronouncement of the inmates of this prison, contrary to what happened in Palmasola, where the inmates did speak out and rejected their presence. “The judge is also the one who has determined preventive detention in this penitentiary center,” Cleans said.
