Mirtha Rodríguez, Corporate Director of Sustainability of Komatso-mitsui, was present in the Blue & Verde program, of Peru21 Playin which he told details of the sustainable programs that his company has put into practice for several mining companies, their main clients, in favor of the communities of their areas of influence.
Rodríguez separates the Komatso-mitsui sustainability strategy into four pillars: the Environmental Pilar, the Social Pillar, the Pilar of Diversity and Inclusion and the Pilar of Integrity.
“We consider it important to put these last two because they are normally ASG issues (environment, social and governance) but we consider introducing to our strategy the issue of diversity and inclusion because we characterize ourselves for being an industry where the male issue is more involved than women. So there we have an important job that we have started, “Rodríguez said in Peru21 play.
“In the case of the Pilar of Integrity, because we rely on a job that has to be ethical … doing transparent business. We work with the communities, with our value chain and suppliers. We have a very important program with our mining clients where we prepare social management plans.
In another part of the interview, the corporate director emphasized a special program that aims at technical training for the communities of the aforementioned “area of influence”.
“Enter a flag project that we have in Komatsu-Mitsui, which is the Technical Education program for the Tec communities. This program is located in the South Hub, in Arequipa, which is a purely miner hub where our main ones are customers.
“Then, we provide the technical career of heavy machinery maintenance and we offer this race to 35% or 40% less than similar programs in the market,” he adds.
