Miriam Germán ponders Marcha Verde’s support for the fight against corruption and impunity

The Attorney General of the Republic, Miriam German Britothanked a commission of Green March who visited him in his office to support the actions carried out by his management against impunity in all the cases of corruption that are followed by the prosecution bodies of the Public ministry.

Germán Brito addressed the issue with Guadalupe Valdez, Adalgisa Jiménez, Carlos Jiménez and César Díaz López in the company of deputy prosecutors Yeni Berenice Reynoso, general director of Prosecution of the Public Ministry, and Wilson Camacho, head of the Specialized Prosecution of Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Administrative (Pepca).

The magistrate valued the recognition of the efforts of the Public Ministry in favor of the eradication of impunity, as well as the interest of Marcha Verde in remaining vigilant against all processes.

“This should be the position, not only of the Green March, but of all citizens who aspire to have a better country,” said Germán Brito, regarding the visit.

In the same sense, Camacho pondered the historical milestone that marked, for the Dominican Republic, the Green March social movement and its constant mobilization against corruption and impunity.

The directors of Marcha Verde expressed their willingness to continue fighting for issues such as the approval of a Domain Extinction Law and the strengthening of the independence of the Public Ministry.

At the same time, they presented several concerns about the role of the Public Ministry in Monseñor Nouel province, as well as about the treatment of rewarded denunciations in the prosecution of the crime of corruption.

In this sense, the director of Persecution guaranteed that the agreements of the Public Ministry with some involved in the corruption files are always based on clear procedural criteria established in the Code of Criminal Procedure and validated by the courts.

He recalled that, in its work in pursuit of the application of justice and the recovery of assets resulting from crime, the Public Ministry supports with evidence and a rigorous investigation the denunciation of the accused of any of the ongoing processes.

Reynoso indicated that they decide to provide their testimony, documentation and even movable and immovable property, carry out an act of collaboration and acknowledgment of their guilt with which, in addition, they expect more considerate treatment from the judges in court.
