The director of diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic (Mirex) María Alejandra Castillo, recognized Patria Rivas as an outstanding woman and professional in the field of science.
The recognition was delivered by Castillo during the “Quisqueyanos for the World” award ceremony, where he took advantage of the occasion to highlight the qualities of Rivas, through the 56 years of the Patria Rivas Clinical Laboratory in the field of science and health well-being in the country.
“In 2005, within the framework of the symposium of the International Society for Forensics Genetics (ISFG) in Azores, Portugal, Patria Rivas accompanied by her daughter Vilma Díaz Rivas put up the Dominican flag for the first time with their presence before the world scientific community to DNA studies for human identification of the entity of which they are members,” reported Castillo.
The recognition ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez, together with senior executives of the institution and relatives of the winner.
