Miracle Room: "We never thought we would be victims of such violent repression"

The Jujuy leader Miracle Room maintained this Monday that in the Túpac Amaru group “they never thought” that the social organizations of the province and she herself “would be victims of such a violent reprisal by the government of Gerardo Morales”and when referring to the governor who chairs the National Committee of the UCR, he assured that his “only shield” is “justice, the police and (the expansion of) contraventions.”

In addition, he reiterated his claim that they grant him pardon, a procedural alternative that, he said, was implemented “in the same way” during the administration of Raúl Alfonsín.

Regarding other cases that have her as a defendant, she announced that before the new trials begin, she herself “will show the evidence” available to replicate the charges.

His intention is to prevent a repeat of the precedent of the ‘Pibes Villeros’ case, in which he considers that he was unable to fully exercise his right of defense.

“I, before I go to trial, I am going to go out publicly to speak cause by cause and I am going to start showing my evidence, so that it does not happen to me as in the ‘Pibes Villeros’ case. Because in that case I wanted to present videos, evidence, invoices and they never let us present anything: of the 116 witnesses we had, they only allowed 9 to testify and those 9 threatened all their families,” he remarked.

Another topic of the interview was the claim for pardon so that he can regain his freedomwhich gained momentum again after the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the 13-year sentence against him in the ‘Pibes Villeros’ case.

“Several months ago, I said ‘no to pardon’Today I say ‘yes to the pardon’ because I want to go to the Inter-American Court (of Justice) to sit on a bench, for them to judge me and for me to provide evidence and defend myself. I have the last chance to do that.”he stated.

In addition, he mentioned that last meeting of the human rights organizations with the president Alberto Fernandez a commission was formed with eight lawyers where they were “working on the possibility of pardon”.

“I think they are finishing this work because it is not putting together the file and giving the proof. Let’s not forget that in Alfonsín’s time he also gave a pardon in the same way that one is asking for,” he pointed out.

During the dialogue with this agency, the leader recalled that after Morales assumed the governorship, numerous members of social organizations in Jujuy demanded to be attended to to have some certainty of their future work, which is why a camp was set up in Belgrano square, in front of the Government House.

It was a protest of several days that led to the arrest and preventive detention of the Chamber itself.

“We never imagined that they were going to put us in jail, nor (that Morales would decide) to take such a violent reprisal personally and against social organizations”reviewed the founder of Túpac Amaru.

And in the same sense, he confided: “We did not prepare to go to jail. We had all the cooperatives up to date, the houses up to date and in the last stage we still needed to build half and all the material was stored in Túpac sheds (from the Alto Comedero neighborhood).”

Likewise, he regretted the current state of many of the works carried out by the organization, such as the Aquatic Park (built in the Alto Comedero neighborhood, where for many residents it meant the first experience of swimming), the Health Centers and the textile factories, which were left abandoned.

“Everything is destroyed or not working. If I were Morales, I would have been more intelligent and ordered to improve the works already done, but he ordered them to be destroyed to carry out his own project,” he criticized.

How was the arrest in Jujuy

In another section of the report, Sala recounted the moment in which she was detained, a decision that had been anticipated due to the “retaliation” that “comrades from all organizations” began to suffer from the beginning of Morales’ administration, she recalled. .

“That day I came to bathe and I was leaving for the plaza (Belgrano) and halfway there I had to return. When I came, my house was surrounded by police, infantry, and the (then) Minister (of Security, Ekel) called me Meyer) and, without even having a court order, they took me in a white car and from there they took me to the women’s police station and, a week later, to the prison“, he reconstructed.

On the other hand, he pointed out that “when the social organizations and political parties of Buenos Aires mobilized towards the Supreme Court of Justice, Morales came out to say that Justice has to be independent and we, lJujeños, we know that Justice is not independent“.

“They are part of the policy that Morales uses. People already know what he does,” he added.

About this year’s presidential elections, he stated that “Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is the best candidate the Frente de Todos has today.”

“She was clear when she said, in her last speech, ‘Justice is outlawing me,’ leaving us with a small light of hope. Many of us in the military want her to be the candidate for president because she will be able to respond to the people,” he stressed.

“Cristina is one of the leaders of the town”he later emphasized.

The current situation in Jujuy

As for Morales’ administration, he said that “with him Jujuy has been greatly impoverished” while at the national level he stated that the governor’s electoral aspirations are also “falling apart.”

“Morales called polls to see if he could reform the (provincial) Constitution and the people told him no and he had to suspend it. He passed it from December to May 7 (along with the provincial elections there will be an election of constituent conventions). The people are in disagreement with the PJ and the radicals because of the large society they have in Jujuy,” Sala questioned.

In that sense, he added: “Jujuy is one of the most impoverished provinces and we don’t know where the money collected and collected by Morales and his brother goes.”

“There is no generation of work. Jujuy is one of the provinces in which we are politically in a very bad position and the people of the rest of the country realize that Morales is lying,” he said.

Regarding the political scenario of the province in the short term, he estimated that “there will be a government very different from that of Morales,” after which he urged the electorate to elect at the polls the political sectors that really “defend Jujuy”.

“We are the only ones who are going to be able to defend Jujuy. And when we are in the dark room, let’s think well, because in these years that (Morales) has been governing, it is impressive how Jujuy went from being such a calm province to being such a fearful province.”

On this point, he warned about the constant harassment suffered by social organizations with legal cases against their leadersto those who intimidate and threaten with the application of the figure of the contravention.

“Since Morales took office, he has sent a bill that is approved by the Legislature and is the (extended) contravention that is being applied to all social leaders, trade unionists and all those political sectors that dare to say that their government It’s corrupt,” he said.

In this sense, he added that in the face of demands for the operation of soup kitchens or cooperatives, “against hunger and for work for the people, the only shield that Morales has is Justice, the police and contraventions.”
