Minvivienda will prepare a master plan for aqueduct and sewage for Quibdó

The Minister of Housing, Helga Rivas, in the company of the Vice Minister of Water and Basic Sanitation,
Edward Libreros and the team from the Ministry of Housing, City and Territory, arrived this Friday in the city of Quibdó to make important announcements related to the Aqueduct and Sewer Master Plan, housing improvements and the Marmolejo final disposal site.

“We are working jointly with the Government and the Mayor’s Office to advance on different issues that improve the quality of life of Quibdoseños. In a participatory process we are signing the agreement to consult on the Aqueduct and Sewer Master Plan; We are working on Zero Waste, supporting all solid waste treatment processes that are a fundamental axis for the urban and territorial development of Quibdó and, in addition, we are advancing in housing improvement processes adapted to the territory from a differential approach and social construction. of the habitat”, the minister highlighted.

The first announcement was made jointly with the governor of Chocó, Nubia Córdoba and the mayor of Quibdó, Rafael Bolaños. This is the signing of the agreement for the studies and designs of the Aqueduct and Sewerage Master Plan for the city; This agreement was signed together with the two leaders.

“Today we thank the Ministry for this vote of confidence with the territoriality, because it is Quibdó who is going to execute it and it is for the first time a judicious planning action that takes into account the characteristics of the territory, which is committed to solving the structural and plans to reach 100% coverage, that thinks about water and basic sanitation and that thinks, above all, that Quibdó is a capital”, said Governor Nubia Córdoba.

This project will increase the coverage of the aqueduct and sewage system and the continuity of the provision of the aqueduct service. It will also improve the quality of water for consumption and will help mitigate environmental damage to the Atrato River.

“The Government of Change, with the leadership of President Gustavo Petro, delivers for the people of Quibdó. The Aqueduct and Sewer Master Plan is a cry of the Chocoan people, this project is committed to the construction of habitat, the consolidation of peace from the transformation of the territory, the care of water and privileging life,” said the vice minister.

The investment for the preparation of the Quibdó Aqueduct and Sewerage Master Plan is more than $30,530 million pesos and will benefit 142,184 inhabitants. This is a desire of the Quibdoseño and Chocoano people. In addition, it is expected to deliver short, medium and long detailed engineering projects.

In line with the objective of contributing to the quality of life of the inhabitants of Chocó, Minister Helga Rivas also signed with the Department’s Government the agreement for the execution of 100 housing improvements in three municipalities of the department (Litoral de San Juan, Quito and Alto River
Baudó), of which 80 are rural and 20 urban. The investment in these works exceeds $2,180 million.

“These improvements occur in partnership, the Ministry provides 70% of the resources and the Government 30%, the important thing in Chocó is to recognize that the homes are very different and the idea is to be able to improve these homes in concert with the families that inhabit them and this is a joint process,” Rivas stated.

Finally, the delivery of the construction of a final disposal cell and acquisition of machinery and equipment was announced within the framework of the project to optimize the provision of cleaning services in the urban perimeter of Quibdó.

With this project, the adequate final disposal of solid waste will be achieved for 100% of the population of the municipality of Quibdó, optimizing the provision of the collection service, through increasing coverage in its provision from 88.7% to 93%. %. Finally, through the acquisition of machinery for final disposal, the new vessel will be operated, guaranteeing the
adequate compaction conditions and availability of covering material. A project that had an investment of more than $7,946 million.
