One of the amendment proposals is that it is not mandatory for companies or workers to take vacation periods of 12 consecutive days from the first year of seniority, but that there be flexibility and a vacation period of 6 continuous days is possible, but that the remaining 6 days can be divided during the rest of the year and as is convenient for the worker.
Another possibility that is still being analyzed is that the vacation periods do not escalate by 2 for each year of seniority until reaching 25 days of rest. But this is still a proposal that is being studied, in addition to seeking the opinion of the Economic Commission, said the legislator.
But the 12-day vacation from the first year is a fact, the legislator assured. We’re just “looking for flexibility,” he added.
“We are talking with the benches to leave unanimously. If we are proposing changes to the bill in favor of all the workers but all by consensus, and with that the senators get it out quickly ”, he pointed out.
“The bill is not going to stop, it will come out from 2023,” also warned the Morenista deputy Elvia Yolanda Martínez Cosío, secretary of the Labor Commission.
In a session of that working group, deputy Susana Prieto Terrazas, from Morena, asked the president of the Commission to come out and clarify the issue, because “the press is starting to say terrible things: that if Morena is stopping her, that we don’t want to ”.
In response, Baldenebro Arredondo, from Morena, rejected the existence of pressure, that there is an intention to reduce vacation days or to prevent the reforms from taking effect in 2023.
He guaranteed that next week the commission will meet in an extraordinary way to carry out the opinion, upload it immediately to the plenary session and send it to the Senate.
“Although there may be pressure, we are used to working under pressure. But the Senate is not going to put pressure on us, the media are not going to put pressure on us. And there is no indication on this table that we stop this project, much less that we reduce days, ”he asserted.
MC request is frozen
The coordinator of the deputies of Morena, Ignacio Mier, assured that he “did not reach out” to stop the dignified vacations and blamed the leader of the deputies of MC, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, for the fact that this minute did not have an express procedure.
He got distracted and let the moment pass when it entered the Chamber from the Senate, so normal processing was given to commissions, he explained.
The day before, MC requested that the board of directors of the Chamber address the issue of urgent and obvious resolution, but the president of that body, Santiago Creel, of National Action (PAN), did not process that proposal.
When that letter was received, the board of directors had already agreed on the issues of the session, “I need an agreement with the board of directors, I cannot alter the agenda that was already there since yesterday,” he explained.
