In tribute to Rosario Ibarra de Piedra, the human rights defender who died last Saturday, yesterday the Chamber of Deputies granted a minute of applause at the beginning of the session in which the electricity reform would be voted on.

Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, president of the board of directors of San Lázaro, recalled the trajectory of the social activist and that she led one of the noblest and most painful struggles due to the disappearance of one of her sons during the dirty war.

Her activism awakened thousands of social consciences that, in the absence of a protective State, found in her a heart full of kindness and dignity, she stressed.

Gutiérrez Luna added that since he created the ¡Eureka! Committee, thousands have joined this collective struggle.

The brunette lamented the physical departure of Rosario Ibarra de Piedra and said that her example of dignity and struggle against the abuse of power is a source of pride.
