Mintransporte announces criminal complaint against Ultra Air

The Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Reyes, revealed to RCN Radio that a criminal complaint will be filed against the Ultra Air airline, after announcing its cessation of operations as of March 30.

“I have a firm suspicion that this whole issue of capitalization is something that does not coincide with reality, I think they were already clear that they were on the way to not continue operating any aircraft, from six they went to three, non-compliance and rescheduling was an obvious issue that led to what we had warned could happen, because it is indeed going to happen, it is very worrying ” , he affirmed to RCN Radio.

In addition, confirmed that a criminal complaint will be filed, for having continued selling tickets when the airline was aware that it would not be able to operate these routes and assured that an aeronautical steering committee will be held tomorrow where the respective actions will be announced.

“We will do the same as with Viva, We will formulate the respective criminal complaints with the Supertransporte, We are going to seek to reschedule the flights of the affected people, we will go to Latam, Avianca and Satena,” Reyes said.

In the same sense, he assured that the company must implement the contingency plan which was presented to the Superintendent of Transportation in recent days.

The official revealed to RCN Radio that for those people who have been affected by the suspension of operations, they should know that “they have a Government, a Ministry and an Aeronautics that are behind protecting their rights and looking for how we are going to guarantee ourselves with other airlines even if it is having to place an Air Force plane, if that is the case so that we guarantee mobility of our tourists”.

Finally, he said that This is an effect left by the pandemic and the situation of the dollar as well as the taxes that have mainly affected low-cost airlines.

“This is the time to save the airlines we have and if we don’t, then The truth is that we are in a very complex situation regarding air transport in Colombia.“, he added.
