Within the framework of the XXII Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor, the National Government presented the strategy he has been working on to protect jobs at risk in the face of advances in artificial intelligence.

The initiative was announced by the Minister of Labor, Gloría Inés Ramírez, before the 34 countries that make up the Organization of American States (OAS).
According to the official, although it is true that AI brings the creation of new jobs, it can also represent the loss of almost 40% of jobs. A figure that is supported by data presented by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The head of the labor portfolio explained that the situation is focused on labor reconversion, protecting automation and decarbonization processes.
“That is to say that when there is an automation process, you talk to your workers, carry out job reconversion and qualification processes in other jobs, in the same way, in the positions that are generated by the same automation, they are occupied by the former workers, but trained and formed”said the minister.
