The Ministry of Labor reported through a statement that following the validation of the Certification issued by the Labor Risk Insurer (ARL) SURA, in which compliance with occupational health and safety measures was confirmed, the suspension of activities at the renowned restaurant ‘Andrés Carne de Res’ has been lifted.

This measure had been imposed following the workplace accident that occurred on August 17, 2024, in which the dancer Laura Daniela Villamil suffered a serious accident in the middle of a show at said establishment.
The Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, explained: “This ministry carried out an inspection process within the framework of its surveillance and control functions, revealing a serious and imminent risk to the safety and health of workers.”
Administrative Sanctioning Process underway
Following the lifting of the temporary suspension of activities, Minister Ramírez announced the start of an Administrative Sanctioning Process against the companies involved, due to the alleged non-compliance with occupational risk regulations, a situation that led to the artist’s accident.
“This ministerial body has decided to initiate an administrative sanctioning process against the aforementioned companies, due to the alleged non-compliance with regulations on occupational risks, in connection with the work accident of the artist,” said the official.
According to the Government’s portfolio, the objective of the sanctioning process is to ensure that the company complies with its obligations regarding the prevention of occupational risks, thus avoiding future incidents that could compromise the life and safety of employees.
The Ministry of Labour has reiterated its commitment to monitoring and controlling compliance with workplace safety regulations in all sectors.
