Mintrabajo launches seal to promote hiring of older adults

The Ministry of Labor launched a new initiative to encourage crecruitment of people of pension age, women over 57 years old and men over 62 years old, but who have not been able to retire because they do not meet all the requirements.

Through the program Senior Adult Friendly Seal, The portfolio seeks that companies that choose to hire a population at these ages and that meet these conditions, can access a 120% deduction in income tax for the hiring of older adults, for a minimum of one year.

From the Ministry of Labor, through the Elderly Friendly Seal, it seeks not only to recognize the labor rights of the elderly, but also to strategically integrate the business sector in order to stimulate the employment of these people, through recognition of good practices in the company”Said the head of the portfolio Ángel Custodio Cabrera.

In addition, as indicated by the portfolio, this Seal will be “a tie-breaking factor in public bidding processes”.

The process for this seal to become a Colombian technical standard took 11 months and was carried out together with the Icontec and the support of other institutional actors.
