With a call to the country’s compensation funds to extend their programs and benefits to rural areas of the country, the Minister of Labor, delegate with presidential functions, Gloria Inés Ramírez, installed this Wednesday in Cartagena the 32nd National Congress of Asocajas.

The official recognized that the compensation funds have played a prominent role and have accumulated valuable experiences in social policy oriented to the welfare of Colombians.
“The savings banks have fulfilled their task of alleviating the economic burdens of working families, promoting inclusion, providing well-being, decent work and social wages efficiently”affirmed the Minister.
Likewise, he highlighted the programs and benefits they provide to diverse populations in different areas of the country.
Likewise, He called on them to strengthen their actions in the countryside and in informal sectors so that they transition to formality.

For the head of the labor portfolio, they will be essential to recognize the social relevance of the last job, to continue providing elderly people with well-being and employment, through its recreation, culture and training programs, among others.
The union event, which has as its motto “Essence, the beauty of who we are”, seeks to show all the social and inclusion work of the compensation fund system that serves 10.3 million affiliated workers and 10.6 million beneficiaries who make up the workers’ families, explained Adriana Guillén, president of Asocajas.
The savings banks transform the contributions of 681,675 companies, of $8.4 billion a year, into goods and social services.
Of these, only 3.1% are large and medium-sized companies, that is, around 21,000 companies, and 97%, represented in 661,000, are micro and small.

The participation of several speakers and representatives of the Government is expected in today’s Congress. For example, there will be the Minister of Housing, Catalina Velasco.
