The Ministry of Health reported that the Public Health Institute (ISP) confirmed the second case of Monkeypox in the country through PCR analysis.
Unlike the first infected person who was located in the Metropolitan region, this time it is an adult person from the Araucanía region with a history of traveling to Europe in the last three weeks.
Given this and as in the first case, the health authority explained that the surveillance protocol established by the Ministry of Health was applied.
“The person is in good health, without complications and serving a period of isolation,” they said.
Along with emphasizing that they will maintain confidentiality regarding the identity of the person, they recommended “people who have had close skin-to-skin contact with a person with injuries consult a doctor.”
