During this day the Ministry of Health (Minsal) announced that Maria Paz Bertogliawill assume the position of head of the National Immunization Program (PNI) as of July 1, replacing Dr. Cecilia Gonzalezwho was in charge of the program since 2017 and is taking voluntary retirement after being in the portfolio for 10 years.
It should be noted that González was one of the names that would continue in the positions of technical officials during the Government of the President Gabriel Boricthis after the management it had with the vaccination plan during the pandemic, positioning our country as one of the world leaders in the matter.

The Ministry of Health indicated -through a statement- that the new head of the PNI is a Kinesiologist from the Catholic University of Valparaíso, with a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the Catholic University, a Master’s degree in Biostatistics from the University of Chile and a Doctor of Public Health from the same University. In addition, she highlights her extensive experience in academia, research, and in the public sector.
In turn, they point out that “until May of this year, she served as International Consultant of the Comprehensive Family Immunization Unit of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and academic of the School of Public Health of the University of Chile She is president of the Chilean Society of Epidemiology and belonged to the Advisory Committee on Immunizations of the Chilean Society of Infectious Diseases.”
