The Ministry of Health (Minsa), presented to the Budget Commission of the National Assembly the budget view for fiscal year 2023, which consists of 3 thousand 542.2 million balboas, of which the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) recommended the figure of 2 thousand 564.1 million, with a cut of 978.1 million balboas.
The support was in charge of the Minister of Health in charge Ivette Berrío, who indicated that this budget would be focused mainly on infrastructure investment, improvement in the existing structures of the country, operation, medical equipment, strengthening human resources, supplies and medicines.
The Minsa seeks to support the reconsideration for an amount of 428.6 million balboas displayed in the sensitive items so that the institution provides adequate care to the population, taking into account that the pandemic has not ended.
“We have made a request for reconsideration, which will be made in writing to the Budget Commission of the National Assembly and we are going to break down the priorities of the Minsa for 2023, also focused on improving the quality of care for citizens at the national level” Berrio maintained.
He pointed out that an important factor for which the Ministry of Health (Minsa) requests a reassessment of the cut that the MEF has made is to also strengthen primary care at the national level.
