MINSA strengthens epidemiological surveillance against zoonotic and vector-borne diseases

The Ministry of Health of Panama (MINSA), reported this Thursday, October 13, that epidemiological surveillance against zoonotic and vector-borne diseases has been reinforced in 15 health regions of the country.

According to the health entity, currently the number of registered cases is divided as follows:

  • COVID-19: 998,320
  • Dengue: 6,108
  • Malaria: 4,569
  • Leishmaniasis: 1,037
  • Hantaviruses: 43
  • Monkeypox: 16
  • Zika: 3
  • Chikungunya: 2

He explained that since October 10, 2022, pediatric vaccination against COVID-19 began for children between 6 months and 4 years, 11 months and 29 days, in order to reinforce the National Vaccination Plan against this disease. .

They remind the population not to let their guard down.
