Minsa reports that there are still no cases of a new variant of monkeypox in Peru

The Ministry of Health has announced the issuance of an epidemiological alert due to the appearance of a new variant of monkeypox in Africa.

At the moment, the Minsa reports that no cases of a new variant have been registered in the country, which is why they have taken preventive measures in the experience of the 2022 epidemic that mainly affected the capital.

The director general of the epidemiology center of the Minsa, César Munayco, stated to Canal N that there are currently 76 cases of monkeypox in Peru, all belonging to clade 2, the same one that caused the previous epidemic.

Munayco also said that monkeypox is characterized by fever, general malaise and swollen lymph nodes, as well as skin lesions similar to chickenpox.
