The Ministry of Health (Minsa) continues to report a consecutive drop in the number of cases by COVID-19 in Nicaragua. In the press release, which runs from July 5 to 12, 2022, the health institution recorded three fewer cases compared to the previous week’s report.
This Tuesday, the health institution details that in the last seven days there were 38 citizens infected by the virus. With this update, a cumulative of 19,175 cases of COVID-19 is registered in Nicaragua. As for the victims of the pandemic, the Minsa continues to report one death per week, thus reaching 245 deaths from the SarsCov-2 virus from March 2020 to date.

For its part, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) recently said at a press conference that the region has seen an increase of “more than 1.3 million new cases of COVID-19 and 4,158 deaths in the Americas. This represents a 13.9% increase in cases from a week ago. These figures serve as a stark reminder that too many people remain vulnerable,” said PAHO Director Carissa Etienne.
In addition, he assured that “looking towards Central America, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama have gone beyond the 70% objective and El Salvador is approaching this objective. We have to speed up the pace of vaccination to protect populations from the consequences of this virus,” warned Etienne.

Currently, the authorities maintain a permanent vaccination day against COVID-19 for all people over the age of two. Since the pandemic began, Nicaragua has not applied restrictive measures as part of the fight against the coronavirus, which has earned it criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO).
