The Ministry of Health, through the Department of Epidemiology, reported that until the epidemiological week No. 2 (January 05 – 11, 2025), a total of 649 accumulated cases of dengue were recorded nationwide.
Of that total, 586 cases of dengue without signs of alarms; 57 with alarm signs and 6 severe cases.
The report explained that, from that figure, the San Miguelito region leads the list with 192 cases; followed by the Metropolitan Region with 122; Panama Norte with 89; The saints with 64; Panama West with 48; Bocas del Toro with 28; Darién with 23; Chiriquí 22; the Columbus region 20 cases; They are followed by veraguas with 13; Herrera with 11; Panama Este with 9; I cooked 5 cases; Ngäbe-Buglé region with 2 cases; Kuna Yala with 1 cases. No cases are reported in foreign people.
The Minsa reiterated to the population support in the elimination of mosquito farms to avoid vector -transmitted diseases.
Hospitalizations
Starting the 2025 we have registered 48 patients who have required intrahospital treatment.
Deaths
The Minsa indicated that a death is recorded so far from 2025 corresponding to the Panama East Health Region.
According to the report the national incidence rate in epidemiological week number 2 of 2025 is 14.2 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.
The Minsa reported that operations to reduce dengue cases intensify in all health regions through vector equipment.
At the same time, it reiterates to people the support in the awareness of the elimination of all the farmhouses of the mosquito, around and within the homes, with the purpose of avoiding the transmission of dengue, zika, chikungunya and any other disease transmitted by mosquitoes .
Among the main symptoms by dengue are: fever, headache, discomfort, pain in the muscles and eye pain.
Dengue is a serious and potentially deadly disease, transmitted through the mosquito bite of the Aedes Aegypti species.
