The week in which dengue cases increased the most in Nicaragua, in the period reviewed by this media, was from September 1 to 8, when Health authorities recorded an increase of 15 percent, with 372 new positive cases. .

The Minsa, on September 28, through its social networks, reported that they formed brigades to fight dengue, which would be sent throughout the country in search of febrile cases and elimination of breeding sites of the mosquito that transmits said disease.

On October 1, the Health authorities detailed that they formed 2,819 teams to carry out house-to-house visits in neighborhoods and communities, where they captured and treated “1,716 people with fever.” However, they did not report the diagnosis that these patients had or if they tested positive for dengue or malaria, diseases that they seek to combat with the campaign they launched.

Rainy season leads to increase in dengue cases in Nicaragua

Ortega member Cristian Toledo, general director of Health Surveillance of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) of Nicaragua, last September stated in interviews with official media that certain increases, which are reflected in the epidemiological bulletins, occur because “there are diseases of rainy seasons.

He assured that in this season they strengthen “aspects of care, prevention and monitoring of diseases that can occur with the arrival of the rains.”

The rainfall typical of this rainy season, which according to Toledo, in Nicaragua encourages the proliferation of mosquito breeding sites that transmit epidemic diseases, will continue to affect the national territory.

Manuel Prado, from the Climate Change Directorate of the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter), in an interview with official media, assured that the country will have light to moderate rains this week.

«Rains will continue to occur during the next few days, this is also associated with the hurricane, which is quite far from the country, to the north of Mexico, but which will influence the entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean, and this will generate hot days, in the morning and part in the afternoon, and in the afternoon and evening we will have light to moderate rains,” stated Prado.

Also, he predicted that there will be “heavy” rains with thunderstorms, especially located “in the Pacific, Northern and Central regions of the country.”
