The Ministry of Health (Minsa) ordered that, as of today, Saturday, September 10, people over 18 years of age who have completed five months or more of having applied their third dose, can now receive the fourth vaccine against the coronavirus ( COVID-19).
Through a statement, the Health sector pointed out that, in this group, the goal is to immunize with fourth doses around 6,586,589 people.
In this way, the elderly population will be able to attend the vaccination point closest to having elapsed five months to complete their vaccination. The Minsa reported that this population group older than 18 years already exceeded 73% coverage in the third dose.
Regarding the fourth dose, the Minsa explained that, in the same way, this reinforcement continues to be administered to people who live with comorbidities, immunosuppressed people, people with disabilities, vulnerable people and health personnel.
This measure is in addition to what was announced today by the Minister of Health, Jorge López Peña, regarding the update of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 including the population between 6 months and 4 years 11 months and 29 days to be vaccinated.
The Minsa recommended that the population complete their plans for vaccination against COVID-19 and to continue complying with prevention measures such as constant hand washing, ventilation of spaces, social distancing and the correct use of a mask.
