Minsa has applied 1,143,579 doses against influenza

The Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), has administered a total of 1,143,579 doses of the influenza vaccine as of August 26, 2024. Of these, 837,872 doses were administered by the Minsa and 305,707 by the clinics of the Social Security Fund.

The regions with the highest number of doses applied are: Panama Metro (210,158), Panama West (145,721), Chiriquí (127,232), Ngäbe Buglé region (109,446), Coclé (100,575) and Veraguas (83,675).

The PAI emphasizes that vaccines are available throughout the country, from Monday to Friday, at Minsa and CSS health facilities, and also on weekends at authorized points and shopping centers.

The Ministry of Health reminds that influenza is a contagious respiratory disease that can cause anything from mild discomfort to serious complications and, in some cases, death.

According to the latest report from the Epidemiology Department of the Ministry of Health (No. 33), as of August 17, 83 deaths due to influenza have been reported, which underlines the importance of preventive measures.
