Minsa delivers medicines to the Social Security Fund

On behalf of the Ministry of Health, the head of the Portfolio, Fernando Boyd Galindo, made this Tuesday, October 8, the first delivery of medications to treat various pathologies to the director of the Social Security Fund, Dino Mon, with the aim of supplying patients who cannot find their medicines in the polyclinics of this institution.

Among the medications are: Benzyl Benzoate lotion; Digoxin 0.25 mg, tablet; Escitalopram oxalate 10 mg, tablet; Haloperidol 5 mg, tablet; Lamivudine 150 mg, capsule or tablet; Levomepromazine 25 mg, tablet; Metronidazole 500 mg, scored tablet; Polymyxin b, neomycin, hydrocortisone 1%, suspension and Regular Human Insulin 100ui/ml solution in 10 ml vial.

Minister Boyd Galindo explained that the shipment of these medications is to supply the Minsa’s hospitals and health centers; but a percentage will be shared with the CSS.

“We are making a first delivery, the most urgent; insulin that diabetic patients demand and the medications that are required to supply the pharmacies, another shipment arrives the other week and thus we will distribute all the necessary medications until the public bidding process held last Friday is executed,” said Minister Boyd. .

According to the call, this acquisition seeks to “prevent shortages” of medicines during fiscal periods 2024 and 2025.

He explained that while the large purchase of medicines is carried out, patient demand will be met.

The head of the Portfolio reiterated the need to unify both entities and work under a single health structure at the national level that allows offering an effective and quality service to the population.

He added that both health entities agree on structuring a coordinated health system, which will allow significant savings in the purchase of medicines, the management of infrastructure so that health services are accessible and of quality, for all Panamanians without distinctions of any kind. class.

For his part, Dino Mon, director of the CSS, referred to the prevailing need for medications in this institution, which seeks to supply consecutively specifically in the pharmacies as the shipments arrive to guarantee more recurrent medications for Panamanians.

He agreed with Minister Boyd Galindo that this supply process is the beginning of a great joint integration project.

Eric Conte, director of Medicines and Supplies of the Minsa, indicated that in this administration the various processes will be carried out that can guarantee medicines to all health facilities in the country.

The delivery of 10 lines of medicines includes drugs to treat diseases such as diabetes, HIV and heart disease.

The delivery took place at the National Warehouse of Medicines and Health Supplies of the Minsa.
