The Ministry of Health (Minsa) declared an epidemiological alert at the national level as a preventive measure due to the increase in international travel, internal mobilization and crowds typical of the end-of-year festivities.
Through an official statement, the Minsa warned about the risk of introduction and dissemination of the influenza A (H3N2) subclade K and measleswhich is why it decided to reinforce surveillance and control actions in all public and private establishments in Peru.
Among the actions to be implemented are the epidemiological surveillance, laboratory, immunizations, communication, health promotion and health operationswith the aim of guaranteeing a timely response from the health system.
Likewise, the health sector urged the population to keep your vaccination schedule up to dateespecially against measles, adopt measures of prevention against respiratory infections and go to the nearest health facility if symptoms are present.
On the other hand, the Ombudsman urged the Minsa to establish control points at airports and land terminals, especially in the case of travelers arriving from Europe and the United States.
