To date, the Panamanian Health authorities have only registered one case of monkeypox and this person already overcame the disease two weeks ago.
It should be remembered that on July 4, the Gorgas Commemorative Institute for Health Studies confirmed the first case of monkeypox in Panama. That day it was reported that the case corresponded to a 30-year-old man, Panamanian, who had contacts with visitors from Europe.
The director of the Metropolitan Health Region, Israel Cedeño, confirmed that this person overcame the disease two weeks after being reported as the first case of monkeypox in the country.
In the latest report of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on monkeypox or monkeypox, dated July 28, it is detailed that in America there are 6,785 confirmed cases from 19 countries and territories.
Likewise, it is highlighted that the majority of confirmed cases correspond to men and that 81% are between 25 and 45 years old.
Because of this disease, since May 24, Panama declared a health alert throughout the country.
Monkeypox is transmitted by direct or indirect contact with blood, body fluids and its symptoms include fever, headache, swollen glands, lower back pain, muscle pain and lack of energy.
