Minsa calls for mediation to end the strike in the CSS and avoid damage to health

The Director of the Metropolitan Region of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Israel Cedeño, sent a letter to Minister Luis Francisco Sucre, in which he attached a report on the risky health situation caused by the strike maintained by administrative staff at the Hospital Complex. Metropolitan Arnulfo Arias Madrid of the Social Security Fund (CSS).
In the note, Cedeño highlights that the strike triggered a health problem with the management of hospital rights and common garbage that have accumulated in the hospital corridors, medical care areas, and administrative areas.
Cedeño indicated that this situation exposes both hospital patients and the community in the area to a high health risk with the closure of roads.

According to the report, prepared by the head of the Department of Public Health of the Metropolitan Region, Miguel Correa, the striking personnel have prevented the access of other officials and collection trucks to carry out the collection management and have even retained the implements of cleaning, preventing the cleaning of hospital areas.
They emphasize that there are around 600 bags per day that are generated from hospital waste.
“It is important to emphasize that they are highly dangerous products for health, hospital waste, which constitute a health risk and go against the Health Code,” the report highlights.
For his part, Cedeño concluded that after the field evaluation carried out, it is imperative that mediation be given to end the strike and avoid profound damage to public health.
