The Metropolitan Police of Bogotá warned that false information has been disclosed regarding the case of a minor under 13 years of age who, apparently, had been murdered in the middle of a theft case in the Garcés Navas neighborhood of the town of Engativá, stressing that the minor suffered injuries from a fight, but is alive.
According to Major Diego Loza, commander of the Bogotá Police for Children and Adolescents, the boy was not involved in any robbery, much less died on the spot, but rather it was a different situation, involving three young men who started a dispute outside of a school.
“On March 24, at around 7:15 p.m., uniformed officers from the surveillance quadrant of the Garcés Navas neighborhood in the town of Engativá, received a police report about a fight outside a school, Upon arriving at the place, the uniformed officers noticed the fight between young people, finding a minor under 13 years of age, of Venezuelan nationality, lying on the ground,” he said.

Likewise, it explained that the minor only suffered considerable injuries to his body, by means of a knife, but that after the medical examination it was clarified that he is out of danger, in addition that the subject involved in the attack was captured and taken to the competent authorities.
“He had injuries from a sharp weapon, for which reason he was immediately transferred to the care center, in this way a minor under 14 years of age is apprehended, indicated by the person who causes the injuriesleaving it at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office of the specialized center for adolescents”, he mentioned.
