Minor dies during an assault on the Anzoátegui highway

A 7-year-old girl died in the morning hours of this Monday, July 4, during an armed confrontation in the Los Pinos sector, adjacent to the Coloradito entrance, Puerto Ordaz-El Tigre section of Troncal 16, in jurisdiction of Anzoategui state.

Police sources indicate that the schoolgirl, identified as Fabiola Sofia, was traveling with her parents in a Kia van, Sportage model, along the aforementioned road when they were intercepted by four individuals, aboard two vehicles – a white Toyota Hilux with plates A42AJ8I and a Luv Dmax, of the same color.

It transpired that the special agent of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) José Luis Bonilla Pérez (44 years old), father of the victim and residing in the Capital District of Caracas, confronted the assailants with his regulation weapon, who carried out a burst of shots against the vehicle in which the family was traveling, to then flee the scene in one of the vans and leave the other abandoned.

The minor was admitted lifeless after 12 noon to the pediatric emergency room of the Felipe Guevara Rojas El Tigre hospital, with a wound caused by the passage of a fire projectile in the right temporal region, according to a medical diagnosis.
