Ministry raises Danilo Gentili's film rating to 18

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), through the National Secretariat of Justice (Senajus), changed the rating of the film to 18 years old. How to Become the Worst Student in School.Ministry raises Danilo Gentili's film rating to 18

The reclassification is published on Official Diary of the Union this Wednesday (16). Until then, the feature was indicated for the age group above 14 years.

The justification for the change is that the production presents “content with tendencies of sexual coercion or rape, an act of pedophilia, and a complex sexual situation”.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the deadline to adjust the symbols that indicate the new classification on any platform or channel that can show the feature is five calendar days. Another decision is that the film can only be shown on open TV after 11 pm.

Yesterday (15), the ministry had instituted an administrative precautionary process in which it determined the suspension of the film, within five days from yesterday, from the platforms of streaming such as Netflix, Telecine, Globoplay, Youtube, Apple Computer Brasil and Amazon do Brasil.

According to the MJSP’s order, failure to comply with the determination would generate a daily fine of R$ 50 thousand, in addition to administrative and criminal sanctions.

Inspired by a book by comedian and presenter Danilo Gentili, who also stars in the film, the 2017 feature is accused of making an apology for pedophilia. The story revolves around two teenagers, played by actors Bruno Munhoz and Daniel Pimentel, who find a diary with “tips” on how to become “the worst student in school”.

An excerpt from the film that circulated on social networks generated controversy, especially when the inspector, played by the also presenter and comedian Fábio Porchat, suggests a sexual act on the part of the boys.

Gentili said the scene was taken out of context and that the reactions to the film’s excerpt are “tantrums, false morals and patrolling”.

Fábio Porchat, on the other hand, highlighted that he plays a villain: “He is a bad character, who does horrible things. A villain can be racist, Nazi, sexist, pedophile, kill or torture people. When that appears in a movie, it doesn’t mean we’re making apology.”
