The Minister of Transport and Public Works (MTOP), José Luis Falero, participated in the inauguration of the sports center at the Instituto Hermanas Dominicas, in Montevideo. He stressed that the remodeling, lighting and enclosure of the field of this school involved an investment of more than 6,000,000 pesos. The space will also be used by students from public schools and high schools in the area.
Minister Falero was accompanied by the undersecretary, Juan José Olaizola; the National Director of Architecture of the MTOP, Santiago Borsari; the director of Coexistence and Citizen Security of the Ministry of the Interior, Santiago González; the Director of Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Gonzalo Baroni; the mayor of Municipality D, Gabriel Velazco, and national legislators and members of civil society.
Through the social agreement signed between the educational institution and the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, the leveling and construction of a roofed court of the school that bears the name of Elisa Queirolo de Mailhos was carried out. In addition, the property was illuminated and the channeling of rainwater was executed.
Minister Falero said that this sports center is the result of the efforts of social organizations and the national government, and will allow changing the reality of the youth of the Cerrito de la Victoria neighborhood. He also pointed out that these facilities will also be used by schools and the public high school in the area.
The minister highlighted the role of the Sophia Foundation as an articulator of actions between the State and educational and social institutions throughout the country.
Falero explained that the ministry contributed 2,600,000 pesos to carry out these works and the rest was in charge of the school. The total investment amounts to 6,000,000 pesos.
The head of the portfolio said that the social agreements will be a constant of the ministry throughout the period, since they contribute to the improvement of society and generate healthy areas of coexistence. Presidency
