Ministry of Tourism incorporated operator registration office in Canelones

The new headquarters is located in the Commercial, Industrial and Development Center of Atlántida and will work from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the second Friday of each month. Currently, there are similar offices in Maldonado and Colonia, and the next one will be installed in Florida. Tourism entrepreneurs who register will benefit from the possibility of participating in sector fairs and being part of the ministry’s digital platforms.

The launch of the Canelones office took place on August 17, with the assistance of the interim Minister of Tourism, Remo Monzeglio; the person in charge of the Tourist Operators Comptroller Division, Álvaro Beker, and other agency officials. The president of the Tourist Association of Canelones, Daniel López, and the Canelones Mayor’s Office, the general secretary, Francisco Legnani, and the director of Tourism, Horacio Yanes, also participated.

Monzeglio stressed that the fact that tour operators were registered allowed them to receive support during the pandemic, adding that registration enables them to participate in trade fairs, as well as to include information on the ministry’s digital platforms. He also assured that another objective is to combat informality in the sector.

The Canelones office will correspond to the Tourism Operators Comptroller Division of the ministry, will provide advice, receive and deliver documentation, collect complaints, and respond to requests. The main idea is to increase the proximity with the operators, avoid transfers and join the public activity with the private one. Presidency
