The signing of an agreement between authorities of the Executive Branch and those of Canelones, Maldonado and Rocha established the expansion of the Maldonado security camera system to neighboring departments. Undersecretary Maciel explained that a work commission was formed made up of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Antel, UTE and the municipalities involved to work on the extension of security systems to the departments of Canelones and Rocha, and complement the new inputs with the Maldonado Video Surveillance Center. Through this advance, the Gral. Líber Seregni route (interbalnearia), Route 8, Brigadier General Juan Antonio Lavalleja, and Route 9, Coronel Leonardo Olivera, will be connected.

According to him, this influenced the change in the way police officers operate and contributed to clarify cases. . “Investment in security is an added value in Maldonado,” declared the chief, who added that this system required 22 million dollars, and currently requires maintenance of about 400,000 dollars per year.
